Neon lighting question?

I'm thinking of adding a bit of "bling" type things to my car, make it look more sporty and "cool" (although in the eye of the sight of course) and one of the things I'm thinking is a kind of light kit. Now, I'm pretty sure is illegal driving them here in Cali, but what about showing off in the parking lot or a car show / club type thing? Also, how easy / difficult installation and how much power they draw? I'm assuming that run off the car battery (and include an on / off switch), but if you go reality and strain drain battery in my doubt I will.

I think it's perfectly legal as long as your not driving. I've heard of people having more problems the same when using colors of emergency vehicles (such as blue or red). I had a purple light kit in my car and energy consumption much at all. I would leave for 4-6 hours and did not notice a single problem with my battery. I installed myself and it took about six hours. One thing to consider is if you want neon or LED (I did not have that option at the time). I had a neon "car kit" that includes everything you need. It came with two large 51 "tubes on the sides, and Two smaller tubes for the front and back. The key to the whole thing is the preparation and installation. I did not want the tubes to become visible. This was to assemble in my grill and under side of the car without being seen. These tubes have a cable on each side of the light. You basically connect the cable to the left of a light cable the right of light, and so on. Before closing you need to wire in a transformer (cables to the battery) and connect a switch. You can go to your store AutoZone or local auto parts and get a nice toggle switch. Why go to all those who work and use of a switch 29? The lights come with a good set of instructions. A word of warning: the neon lights are very likely to break so be sure to install them so that quite well. I had to return the first I bought it arrived broken traffic light. I large plastic clips to mount them and never had a problem. He rose to be mounted in front of the radiator and has never had problems with the engine.
